Pair Armorial Hall Chairs - 1st Baron Napier

Here we have a rare and important pair of armorial hall chairs in Mahogany.
The target turned backs are painted with the crest of Colonel Robert Cornelis Napier of Magdala, they have solid seats and turned legs.
Size: 88 cm high.
Robert Cornelis Napier was the 1st Baron Napier of Magdala and was a British army officer who saw action in the first anglo-sikh war and was chief engineer during the second relief of Lucknow in March 1858 during the Indian rebellion of 1857.
These chairs have been in the same family for generations and were reputedly shipped back from India many years ago and came to us via a large country house auction, they are reported to have belonged to Robert Cornelis Napier, hence his armorial being painted on the backs.
