Pair Mid Century Greaves and Thomas Armchairs
Sorry, these items are now sold. If you are seeking similar, feel free to contact me with your requirements. Thank you.
A superb matching pair of vintage, mid century armchairs by the highly regarded Greaves and Thomas of London.
These chairs, dating from the 1960s, are beautifully and deftly styled from solid teak and are very much in the Danish taste. They exude quality and, from a design perspective, rival any top-end Scandinavian-Modern antique furniture from the same period.
Becoming hard to find in this condition these chairs are 100% original and un-restored. The frames are excellent, tight and solid. There are a few minor blemishes and knocks to the leading face of one leg, but that is about it. For original, un-restored chairs that have had 40+ years of careful use, you will be very hard pushed to find better.
The rubber webbing or straps in the seats are also good and strong, although it should be noted that one cross strap is missing. However, that chair remains perfectly useable and comfortable....and a replacement, if desired could be sourced.
The blue covers are also original and, as to be expected, are showing their age with some rubbing and wear. They are however largely presentable and useable as is. Reupholstering is a decision I will leave to the new owner which, due to the simple design of these chairs, will be a relatively quick and inexpensive job to complete.
Incredibly comfortable, these chairs not only look fabulous but are just a great place in which to relax and read....with glorious flared arm rests and a sloping design which encourages 'time out'.
These 'one-owner' items have come to me, along with several other pieces, from an exceptionally well-maintained mid century property, so, if vintage furniture is to your liking, please be sure to view my other items of stock currently live on Antiques Atlas. Thank you. Email or call for any further information on this item. We give great attention to each and every item we select and offer for sale, priding ourselves on the accuracy of our descriptions and research. We are very happy to provide complete and exacting condition reports (together with further photographs, where necessary) and encourage buyers to request this information prior to purchase.
Accepted payment methods are via paypal, bank transfer, personal cheque or cash.
Viewing of any item in person, prior to purchase, is always welcomed by appointment.
