Description:
Here is a good quality antique English harlequin pair of 17th century style solid oak joint stools / side tables, circa 1920, displaying a lovely rich colour, in excellent original condition. The stools incorporate single plank overhanging moulded tops. One stool boasts foliate carvings to the front, back and sides, while both stools feature similar moulded friezes below. The stools are raised on four ring turned legs, which are united by bar stretchers for additional strength, and terminate on block feet. The stools have been made with traditional wooden peg joined construction. The stools have been French polished by hand, to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the colour and patination are of an excellent standard. The stools are solid in joint and ready to use.
These stools feature a lovely rich oak colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.
These vintage oak stools would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room to the hallway, as stools and also as side or lamp antique tables. They would certainly grace any home or office and are a great investment, as they are extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
Condition Report:
The stools are in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the tops, leading edges and legs, but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). There are no breaks to the frames or legs. The stools have been made with traditional wooden peg joined construction out of solid oak. The stools have been French polished by hand, to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the colour and patination are of an excellent standard. The stools are a harlequin / matched pair, meaning they would have had originally had separate origins (although they came into our possession as a pair), but complement each other extremely well. The tables are well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
