Pair of 19th C French Painted Columns pair terracotta columns %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This stunning pair of terracotta columns features exquisite hand-painted scenes: one showcases an oriental landscape, while the other depicts a serene Japanese scene with two cranes amidst a pond adorned with water lilies. Crafted in France during the late 19th-century, these decorative columns were likely intended for use in verandas or conservatories.
Each column is signed and dated, with one marked "Marguerite 1896" and the other "Marguerite 1900." While both pieces are remarkable in their artistry, it is worth noting that one column exhibits a lack of gilding in the lower section.
These columns not only serve as beautiful decorative elements but also as unique pieces of history, showcasing the craftsmanship of their time.
