Pair of 19th Century Regency Mahogany Card Tables

A very good pair of Regency card antique tables with fold-over D-shaped tops with satinwood crossbanding. The well figured mahogany tops, above a shallow frieze, open to reveal the old green baize. Supported by elegant turned columns and raised on exaggerated, scrolled, shapely legs with bold, claw lion paw feet having brass under castors. London makers stamp - Wilkinson Ludgate Hill.
Wilkinson & Son was first established by Joshua Wilkinson as cabinet makers, upholsterers, carpet sellers and a looking glass warehouse, in 1766 in Broker’s Row, Moorfields in the City of London. His son William and cousin Thomas became specialists in extending antique tables, breakfast tables and card antique tables. William eventually set up on his own at Ludgate Hill and Thomas continued at Broker’s Row. Some of Williams first antique furniture was stamped ‘WILKINSON LUDGATE HILL’. Wilkinson & Son were renowned for quality.
