Pair of 19thC Ebonised & Leather Library Chairs

The stylish and well-made ebonised side chairs, having the original leather upholstery, now worn beautifully with age, each with a moustache back and sprung seats, turned front legs to rear block sabers, with original castors to each, the wholes surviving from the zeniths of nineteenth century France.
The condition of both chairs is mainly good and entirely original, with a natural and honest patina, deep colour and no sign of any restoration. The sprung seats are in good sturdy order having been re-webbed though one of them does have some lumpiness to the seat with the springs being a little loose within. The leather shows some small splits and cuts though nothing so large to be detrimental. The ebonised finish shows bitumen to the surfaces indicating they were near a fireplace. The brass castors are original, good quality and move freely.
These chairs would have been in the drawing room by the fire or library and would have been either side of, giving symmetry to the room and offering a seat for a read.
Beautifully untouched French country house period antique furniture.
