This is a good quality pair of antique Victorian mahogany bedside chests, circa 1860, in excellent condition.

This is a superb quality pair of antique Victorian mahogany bedside chests, circa 1860. They each have three graduated working drawers with working locks and a key. The drawer fronts are constructed with cock beading (for a refined finish) along with good quality replacement brass knobs. Both chests feature a large deep bottom drawer the drawer fronts incorporate two dummy drawers (designed to look like two separate drawers). Each bedside chest boasts lovely chamfered moulded round cornered tops this style is reflected in the design of the original top quality rounded plinths. Both chests are constructed of top quality mahogany timber the drawer fronts are finished with a good quality mahogany feathering. The quality is reflected in the weight of these bedsides they are heavy to lift! During this period, England imported good quality timber from its colonies.
These bedsides feature a dark rich, yet classic, red and brown mahogany colour. They have a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.
These chests would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room to the bedroom. They would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are extremely functional. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
Condition Report
These adapted bedside chests are in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks, to the leading edges, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are no cup marks, ink stains or other types of marks to the tops of the bedsides. The drawers are smooth running and close flush to the frame. The drawers feature working locks and a key. The drawers are hand dovetailed with pine drawer linings and feature replacement but good quality brass knobs. These bedsides are constructed of good quality mahogany the mahogany gives a superb colour and patination. The quality is reflected in the weight of these bedsides they are heavy to lift! They are solid in joint and ready to use.
