Pair Of Carved Walnut Carolean Style Armchairs
An attractive pair of antique Carolean style armchairs. We date these chairs to the late 19th century.
The chairs sit on lovely carved legs with large claw feet at the front and turned legs at the rear with turned stretchers.
The arms have lovely carvings with a scrolled front, the stretcher below the seat pad also has attractive decorative carvings.
The chairs have a tall backrest and a large well padded seat.
The chairs are upholstered in a tapestry material with studded detail whilst the back of the chairs have a golden velvet type fabric.
The chairs have an overall height of 46" (117cm), an overall width of 26.5" (67cm), an overall depth of 29.5" (75cm), a backrest height of 29.5" (75cm), a seat height of 17" (43cm), a seat width of 22" (56cm) and a seat depth of 21" (54cm).
The chairs are in very good condition with minor surface marks commensurate with age and usage. The chairs have old worm holes which have been treated twice to make sure and one of the chairs has a slightly different angle to the back legs. The tapestry is worn and has torn in quite a few places.
This remains a very stylish and elegant pair of antique armchairs. They are very comfortable and supportive to sit on and will continue to provide rest and relaxation for many years to come.
