This is a smart Pair of Early 20th Century Silver Plate Lidded Serving or Entree Dishes. The oblong dishes have flat bases and gadrooned rims and handles. The handles are removable so that the lids can be used as separate serving dishes if desired.

The serving dishes were made for the Bristol Goldsmiths Alliance and date to around the 1900s to 1930s. Founded in 1881 from the merger of other businesses, the Bristol Goldsmiths Alliance was a retail jewellers, silversmiths and watchmakers on College Green in Bristol. They remained in business until at least the late 1950s.

Condition is good, with no dings or dents, no significant plate loss and just the superficial wear and tear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each dish is 27.5cm / 10.8ins by 20.4cm / 8ins and stands 14cm / 5.5ins high with the handle in place. The pair together weigh in at 2.89kg / 102oz.

The underside of each dish is stamped Bristol Goldsmiths Alliance.
