Pair of Edwardian satin walnut slender bookcases
These are a very pretty pair of slender Edwardian satin walnut bookcases in good condition ready to go in to your home.
These are a very good pair of demure bookcases. They are slender and pretty enough to be bedroom bookcases but would also look very good in a principal room. Pairs of bookcases look very good together.
The bookcases date to around 1910 and have elements of the Arts and Crafts design of the day. They are however much more salubrious than the usual Arts and Crafts antique furniture, made in satin walnut with box wood inlay to the top and the apron between the feet. The leading edges are beautifully inlaid giving these bookcases a noticeably opulent feel.
The bookcases are tall and slender with fixed shelves and stand on pretty feet.
The condition is good antique. Joints solid. No sign of damage or worm. The walnut is rich and polished.
Each bookcase is 46 inches high and 16 inches wide and 9 inches deep at the feet and the shelves are 6 inches deep. The shelves are 9 inches, 8.5 inches 8.5 inches and 8 inches high.
