We are delighted to offer for sale this sublime pair of Articulated side table lamps, chromed metal, made by Tucker & Edgar Ltd London, designed by Miss Elsie Roberts in the studio of Oswald Milne for Claridges Hotel, ca.1932

This sale is for one pair, I have two pairs of these for sale, if you wish to buy more than one pair please change the quantity to 2 at the point of checkout. I also have the same quantity but with the fixed heads listed under my other items and one pair with the original shades which are super rare

These are a very rare a well made pair, they are original 1930s, the bases are three pillars which come together it the atomic style. The only other known example that I have seen is detailed in the V&A (Victoria & Albert Museum) the full details are as follows

Oswald Partridge Milne was educated at Bedford School, and followed his father into the architectural profession. He was articled to Sir Arthur William Blomfield from 1898 to 1901, and remained as his assistant until 1902 when he joined the office of Edwin Landseer Lutyens as his assistant.

He left in 1904 to commence practice on his own account in London. He went into partnership with the Hon. Paul Phipps in 1919. Their practice chiefly involved country houses. He joined his father's practice Milne and Hall in 1906, which he continued until until 1916.

His work included some of the main interiors of Claridge's Hotel in London. He was later in partnership with Alfred Underhill. In 1927 he was in practice at 64 Wigmore Street in London. His work includes the Eleventh Church of Christ Scientist in London, Hunterscombe Place in Oxfordshire, Sprowston Court in Norwich, Coleton Fishacre in South Devon, Tirinie in Perthshire, and the War Memorial Building at Bedford School .

He was also the architect of Nuffield Place near Henley-on-Thames, the home William Morris, founder of Morris Motors in Oxford, later Lord Nuffield

He was a leading Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Chairman of Council in 1959-61 and Vice-President.

Oswald Partidge Milne died on 15 January 1968 at Hampstead in London aged 86 years.

The lamps have been fully service to include a full rewire, new light fitting and new plug, they are ready to go

We have long term storage which is very economically priced, we are happy to hold stock for as long as needed providing it is arranged prior to the purchase.

If sold items aren’t collected within three months and no arrangements have been made for long term storage you will forfeit the item and payment.

COURIER (LARGE ITEMS ONLY THAT CAN’T BE POSTED)

We prefer collection on all items from Wimbledon SW19-3BE, If you have your own courier or wish to book the collection in yourself we are happy to accommodate you.

We can arrange delivery nationwide, please confirm the delivery amount before you buy and not after.

Whoever delivers will usually require some help on the larger items to unload, if this is not possible please let us know as it will affect the price to send a two man team.

Delivery is to the ground floor only, again if you need help upstairs or in flats etc that's absolutely not a problem, the couriers charge £10 per flight per man per item, if you have a working elevator then naturally there’s no additional fee.

I’m happy to accommodate your own courier after a cleared payment has been received, they need to book in a collection time with at least 24 hours notice, all collections must be made within 7 working days of the close of the auction unless agreed by prior arrangement.
