Pair of Japanese Meiji Square Form Imari Vases

An unusually shaped pair of late 19th century Japanese Meiji period Imari vases. The vases are of square-form body with narrow flared necks. Floral and foliate panels to each face around the vases. Traditionally hand painted in the classic Imari palette. These vases are typical of the Imari porcelain ware that was made for export during the Meiji period. They are unmarked, each with an unglazed foot and blue tint to the ground. The vases are 18.5 cm in height, 11 cm width and 11 cm depth.
These vases are in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration. Some firing flaws as is typical with ceramics of this type and age - one vase with small surface firing crack to foot rim from original which is not evident when upright. Please see images as these form an important part of the description. Viewing welcomed - please contact us in advance.
Secure payment by debit/credit card is available via our website (see our Dealer's page here on Antiques Atlas for link).
