Remarkable pair of large 19th.c. carved and gilded wooden brackets for a console table or shelf c.1860. In the form mythical beasts with an eagle’s wings and the head of fierce looking dog or lion, flowing into a scrolling acanthus leaf. Beautifully carved in high relief with pierced sides. Excellent condition with original gilding attractively worn and mellowed with age.
