Pair Of Pewter Salad Servers by David-Andersen
A wonderfully stylish pair of Scandinavian pewter salad servers from the great Norwegian maker David-Andersen. Although perhaps best known for their enameled antique jewellery and flatware, David-Andersen also produced some very high quality pewterware and these salad servers are a great example.
Designed by Guttorm Gagnes for David-Andersen, the "Old Norse" pattern was created in the early 1960s. Only a limited number of mostly serving pieces were ever made in "Old Norse". These pewter salad servers are rugged, solid and superbly cast and certainly have a feel of the Viking about them, although I'm not sure how much the Vikings were into salad... They would be a real talking point on a dinner table and would also be ideal to use outdoors at a summer barbecue.
Condition is good with just some minimal wear such as you would expect from normal use. They are clearly marked David-Andersen Norway on both pieces.
Each serving piece is 27.5cm long and the pair weigh in at a chunky 400g.
