This is a very well painted pair of 19th Century Marine Paintings.
Oil on Canvas. (Winsor and Newton, London) .
Stretchered frames. Original Gilt slips.
Unsigned but on the edges of both canvases there are indistinct signatures in pencil -possibly J Best??
The paintings depict groups of 2 masted red sailed Fishing Luggers, gathering in mackerel in coastal waters. Probably West Country - Devon or Cornwall.
Sold as a pair.
