Pair of Wonderful Oversized Welsh Oak Armchairs


A wonderful pair of rare oversized Welsh oak armchairs by the renowned and well documented maker Philip Wheeler of Narberth.
One images shows the pair either side of a standard sized dining chair which shows their impressive proportions. Original throughout and in exceptional condition, solid and sturdy and standing level they are very comfortable to sit in.
These chairs come with full provenance from Canaan Chapel, St Michaels Road in Maesteg for which they were made to order in the 1890’s. Philip Wheeler is recorded as making a set of 12 standard side chairs for Salem Welsh Baptist Chapel in Maesteg during the same time.
A finer pair of large Welsh oak armchairs of the period you will not find. Excellent in every way and full of provenance and history.
