Pair Scottish Irish School Watercolour Landscapes
A very good pair of Scottish or possibly Irish School watercolour paintings dating to the late 19th Century.
Very attractive and well executed, possessing a wonderful sense of detail.
They must each represent a known / real locality....one of the islands depicted features what seems to be a stone folly - a feature typical of the numerous small islands and lochs of Scotland and Ireland.
Artist unknown. But these are charming paintings, made by a skilled hand. Very much in the style of John Varley (English, 1778 - 1842).
They each measure:
36 x 24 cms (mount aperture)
55 x 43 (overall, including frames)
The double mounts are of good quality, subtly coloured and with neatly gilded edges. The frames are fairly simple - gilt and patinated wood and have a bit of age to them.
The condition of the paintings themselves is excellent. No loss and with minimal fading and foxing. The frames have some wear commensurate with age.
Price is for both works, sold together and includes UK postage and packing. Email or call for any further information on this item. We give great attention to each and every item we select and offer for sale, priding ourselves on the accuracy of our descriptions and research. We are very happy to provide complete and exacting condition reports (together with further photographs, where necessary) and encourage buyers to request this information prior to purchase.
Accepted payment methods are via paypal, bank transfer, personal cheque or cash.
Viewing of any item in person, prior to purchase, is always welcomed by appointment.
