Phil Rogers - Massive Studio Pottery Storage Jar

PHIL ROGERS (b.1951) - A SPLENDID EXHIBITION QUALITY STORAGE VESSEL
The jar vigorously hand-thrown in stoneware, with raised banding or 'strapping' running around the circumference. Applied handles to the side and a well-fashioned loop to the lid. The whole covered in a satin ash glaze, which has pooled to gloss highlights at the bands. Freckled in places by the addition of salt during the traditional, wood-firing.
Approximately 40 cms high x 37 across (at widest point, including handles).
Deeply impressed with both the potter's personal seal and the mark for Marston Pottery, Wales.
In mint condition.
If you are looking for a large and imposing piece by Phil Rogers to add to your studio pottery collection then look no further - here it is. This is a fine and practical addition to any kitchen.
