A very rare and simply gorgeous, probably 18thC pendant sized vinaigrette, in pinchbeck, complete with interior grill and sponge. The age of this item is consistent with the period in which, or just after, Christopher Pinchbeck (d 1732) was creating and using his new ‘gold’ alloy (copper and zinc).
To find such a piece is rare enough, but to find it in such splendid condition is even more unusual. It’s collectable and exquisite. A really good item.
It is small piece and measures just 22 x 14mm excluding the suspension. It’s about 9mm deep. It is illustrated here on a separately available 9ct gold chain My shop at 1 Bridge St, Dulverton TA22 9HJ is open
