Pitch Pine Lambing Chair
Early 20th Century pitch pine Lambing Chair. There are signs that the chair was originally stained with a dark varnish but has since been stripped and the chair waxed leaving a warm and pleasant appearance. The construction is very solid the chair is heavy but surprisingly comfortable to sit in and would certainly be protective in a draught or strong wind! There is some shrinkage in the back consequent upon age but this does not affect its integrity, rather enhances its appearance. It would look wonderful next to an inglenook fireplace in a period farmhouse setting.
