Pr. Elegant Georgian Brass Candlesticks Adam Style

This is a pair of elegant, slim, Adam style Georgian Candlesticks in brass, with that lovely 'old' brass feel and colour. They have square bases, with beaded edges. The surface of the beading and the original design has been worn smooth by the assiduous polishing of many pairs of hands over the centuries, but this only adds to their history and charm.
The Adam Style (or Adamesque and "Style of the Brothers Adam") is an 18th-century neoclassical style of interior design and architecture, as practised by three Scottish brothers, of whom Robert Adam (1728–1792) and James Adam (1732–1794) were the most widely known.
The Adam brothers were the first to advocate an integrated style for architecture and interiors with walls, ceilings, fireplaces, antique furniture, fixtures, fittings and carpets all being designed by the Adams as a single uniform scheme. Commonly and mistakenly known as "Adams Style," the proper term for this style of architecture and antique furniture is the "Style of the Adam Brothers."
Height: 12" - 30.5cm
Diameter of base: 4 1/2" square - 11.45cm
Material: Brass
Condition: In clean condition consistent with age. Loss of pattern to base and wear to the beading. One of the drip pans has compression marks in three places.
