Pretty and Small 8-day grandfather clock by Smith

A pretty and very compact C19th 8-day longcase clock by Smith of Ashbourne (Derbyshire). Attractive painted dial. Oak case with mahogany, rosewood and boxwood trims. Top quality movement. All fully and professionally restored and supplied with photographic record of the restoration.
A very attractive antique clock in the flesh.
Information about the maker
The reference books list Thomas Smith working from Market Place in Ashbourne from 1828 to 1835. We thought this clock was a little later than that (1840), and have found a trade directory showing him still there in 1846.
Dimensions & Specification
8 day movement, striking the hours on a bell.
13" painted dial with subsidary seconds and 'mouth' date indicator. (Dial maker not known - dial rear unsigned). Oak case with mahogany banding and rosewood trims, typical of those made in nearby Uttoxter at this period. Original brass hands.
Dims 211cm tall (very compact for an 8-day clock). Max width 54cm. Max depth 24.3cm.
Condition Report
Fully & professionally restored ready for sale.
Full photographic record of the clock prior to the work starting will be provided..
