Primitive 18thC Welsh Bench Coffee Table

A rare and pretty 18th Century Welsh bench of primitive form and construction. Featuring an attractively worn 4" thick pine slab top supported on 4 traditional through and wedged oak stick legs.
This early bench had been used recently as a saw bench and for the storing of paint tins in an artists studio, the multiple paint spatters and drips creating a beautiful and interesting look. The top is level and wide enough to hold mugs and small items and would lend itself well to being an improvised coffee table.
This beautiful little bench is original throughout and both strong and stable. Benches of this type are occasionally referred to as Sheep benches as they were used during shearing.
Length 45.5" = 116cm Depth 7" = 17cm Height 17.5" = 45cm
