Mid 19th.c. ash and elm stick back armchair c.1850. Good size, being a little larger than many chairs we see of this type. Slightly curved elm top rail on four ash spindles, shaped with a spoke shave whilst the wood was green rather than turned on a lathe. Over ash armrests and a beautiful wide elm slab seat. On spayed legs for stability, joined with delightfully misshapen side stretchers which still retain faint traces of the original blue/green paintwork. Excellent condition and patina.
Dimensions: width 25″, depth 26″, height 31″.
