Queen Anne Elm and Oak Enclosed Dresser c. 1700
An extremely heavy and substantial Queen Anne oak dresser with exaggerated bolection moulded drawers and twin arched fielded panels to each of the cupboard doors – from a 17th century Welsh farmhouse where it has been for many years. The backboards are solid elm as are the bottom boards and some drawer linings. Single board to the top.
With a very good colour, this is a handsome and usable dresser and a piece of very early oak and elm antique furniture.
The dresser has some 19th century and earlier replacements to the drawer linings. The original iron axe head hinges to the cupboard drawers and the original single drops have been replaced with 19th century solid brass shaped hinges and 18th century solid brass bail handles. As with any period antique furniture, it is to be expected that it has had repairs and restoration during the course of its life and the dresser has numerous knocks, bruises and small losses.
Exceptionally heavy, even with the drawers removed!
Dimensions are:
71 inches wide, 21.5 inches deep and 31.5 inches high.
For metric please multiply by 2.5 I describe and photograph my pieces accurately and with the aim that on arrival each will exceed expectations.
I operate a full refund guarantee and am always happy to give free, honest and friendly advice.
