Rare 19th Century Embossed Leather Voting Box
RARE 19th century Scottish embossed leather club voting box by W & J MILNE. MAKERS. 126 PRINCESS STREET, EDINBURGH. Embossed and gilded leather outside with original purple velvet inside.
The inside of this box is fitted with brass hooks all round the edge where I presume voting tokens were hung when not in use.
The box retains its original Bramahs of London lock although it has been cut.
W & J Milne of Edinburgh where is operation from 1844 to 1905. Very good quality.
