Rare George III Tea Caddy - c. 1760
This is a lovely example of 18th century tea caddy. The oak carcass is veneered by a parquetry of rosewood and curly satinwood in alternating stripes, framed by a cross-banding in tulipwood. The escutcheon is brass. On the inside, there is a single lid which sits on the tea in the 18th century manner. This box dates to circa 1760.
The condition of the box is excellent overall, no missing veneer. There is technically a lock and key, however I have yet to get the lock engage:
