Europa recens descripta a Guilielmo Blaeuw. by Willem Janssonius Blaeu (1571-1638)
copper engraved map with original hand colouring. Green is showing through and has been supported in 2 places. evenly toned throughout fold as issued add. creases blank on verso with contemporary hand written annotation 2 old tape hinges on front in to top corners top and lower c'fold rep. tears small hole in cross fold contemp. ink stains small top margin indistinctive platemarks on verso remnants of old sellotape, red wax residue, cracked paper supported with paper o/w exc. cond.

This map is a very rare variant of the well-known carte-en-figure by Blaeu during the printing process, the borders with the figures were covered up to make the maps fit into different atlases. Maps like this also exist of America and Asia.
