Rare Novelty Mechanical Tantalus by Daniel & Arter
A magnificent and rare find, this very unusual Tantalus contains three wonderful original Victorian cylindrical hobnail cut crystal decanters and stoppers, each having a base diameter measuring 3 1/4" and standing 7" tall.
The caddy or case is made from English EPNS, Electro-Plated Nickel Silver and has a full mark for the well renowned silversmith, Daniel and Arter, the stand is also stamped "Patent".
The top is where the lock can be found (working with key), and once unlocked allows the handle to be turned which revolves the covers around to the back of the decanters, the decanters now can be accessed.
A very special heirloom piece in excellent condition. The stand measures 9" x 9" and stands 15" tall to top of handle.
