Rare Pair of Scottish Wemyss Black Pigs

EXCEPTIONALLY RARE pair of early 1900's Scottish Wemyss Ware black piglets. The black piglets are probably the rarest colour except for the deep blue ones. They had to be made with a different clay than normal Wemyss Ware as the black glaze wouldn't stick to the normal white clay thus they were discontinued very quickly. This particular pair are very well travelled as they were bought from the daughter of a deceased estate in New Zealand having been taken out there in the 1930's when the ladies mother emigrated from Scotland. They are beautifully modelled as usual and have the early impressed mark to the base on both of them. They are both in very good condition with no damage and no repairs except for one of the ears has been off on one of them.
The only other Black example I have had I sold some years ago for £1650 and can still be found on goole if you do a search. It wasn't marked.
One of the slightly unusual features of this pair is that there is some gold highlighting to the ears, feet and tail. I thought at first this had been added later but it doesn't appear so as it is under the glaze.
SIZE Just over 6" long by 2 3/4" deep by 4 1/4" high
