Rare Stratton Queen Elizabeth II Powder Compact
Gifts for her rare royal themed gifts 1950s Stratton powder compacts Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. A rare Stratton 'Corona' made in the 1950s in superb condition. The royal themed Stratton compacts are highly collectible. This one captures a real moment in history. This mid-century antique powder compact has a pictorial inlay showing Queen Elizabeth II & the Duke of Edinburgh. The image was one taken from a photograph by the Court Photographer of the British Royal Family - Stirling Henry Nahum known by his professional name of Baron. The pictorial inlay is the exact image. The scene has been well protected over the last sixty plus years by a plastic cover. Around the edge there is a lacquered & engraved brass rim.
The lid lifts to reveal an excellent mirror which gives an accurate reflection. The whole compact will never need to be cleaned as the brass is protected by a layer of lacquer which will prevent tarnishing. The powder well contains a clean waxed paper insert & the original unused puff and sifter. The puff is signed 'Stratton' in gilt letters & the 'Compact-in-Hand' logo all gilt too. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The base is decorated with a fine spiral. Also the Stratton pouch is also included to protect this highly collectible vanity. This vintage compact mirror measures 3" & weighs 91 grams.
This compact is suitable for use with loose face powder or as a handbag mirror.
