This is an educated guess only but II can't think of any other use for this item. The bristle brush is contained in a three part brass casting of a well modelled Hercules or rhinoceros beetle. The parts are held together with a knurled screw and can be dismantled for cleaning. 18cm Long x 10cm wide.
