I love library antique furniture. I particularly like period Regency library furniture. It is always so opulent looking and yet manly at the same time, the sort of thing you would expect in a well furnished Gentleman's club. This is a particularly elegant book stand. It is late Regency, dating to around 1830 or so. The book stand has a lectern top so can be adjusted from flat to an angle and has a a raised lip to hold the book in place. The stand has a turned column and a triform base. The top is extendable. Just look at the polished brass work and the skill of the mechanisms. Regency cabinet makers were geniuses with brass. I love it when antique furniture does things!! The mechanisms to tilt the top and extend and clip the top in a locked position work as well today as the day this was made.

The condition is good. The wood is well polished. No sign of damage or worm.

This is a very elegant furnishing piece for a home library or office. It will look good with an open book on the stand.

The stand is 15.25 inches wide at the top and 13 inches deep and extends in height from 29 inches high and 37 inches high.
