Regency Mahogany Pedestal Desk Library Table
This is a very good period desk. The desk is made in mahogany and is Regency and dates to around 1820. It is particularly elegant standing on a turned central column with splay legs carved with acanthus leaves and terminating in original decorative brass feet and castors.
This is a quality desk. It has three drawers, the central one faux. The drawers, as you would expect, are made with fine dovetail joints. The mahogany is rich and polished.
I love this desk. It could happily sit in a principal room with a period chair pulled up to it and won't look like the office has strayed in to the living room! The desk is large enough to be functional and to be used as a desk but beautiful enough as a furnishing piece.
Condition good. Old marks to top - see photo. Desk solid. Drawers run well. No sign of damage or worm.
The desk is 50 inches wide and 28 inches deep and 28.5 inches high. It is 23 inches from the floor to the underside of the desk top.
