Regency Santos Rosewood Davenport

A very handsome regency Santos rosewood davenport. It took some time to discover the true origin of this veneer. This is a very functional piece of antique furniture with modern adaptability.
It has stunning rosewood veneer with four real mahogany lined drawers to the right hand side and four faux to the left. All the drawers have interesting jelly mould turned wooden knobs. The interior is veneered in maple with two small drawers and two faux. Releasing one of the interior pulls enables you to release the slide out pen tray and inkwell stand.
The fall has a green tooled leather insert with working lock and key. To the top there is a brass arcadian three quarter gallery. The upper and lower section are joined by a carved scroll support. It sits on brass castors housed in a turned cup which all work well. This item could be drawn up and used for a laptop and then retuned to a wall or corner when not required. The use of the veneer is very attractive.
