Regulator longcase clock by Ellicott & Taylor

A quite exceptionally small round dial London longcase clock retailed by this well known partnership and with the movement by the famous Thwaites of London, numbered 5179.
The 8 day duration Regulator quality 5 pillar movement strikes the hours on a bell and with a round convex painted dial showing Roman numerals, matching brass hands and with the makers name, Ellicott & Taylor of London. Also with strike/silent facility above the number XII. The movement is stamped with the name THWAITES and is numbered 5179 which dates the antique clock to 1813. It also features a precision deadbeat escapement, matching brass weights and a substantial pendulum with a large brass bob and engraved rating nut.
The unusually small cabinet work veneered in the highest quality mahogany veneer standing at just 6'1" with an excellent patina throughout and reeded brass inlaid canted corners to both the trunk and hood. The hood with a broken arch top and brass inlay. The base finishing with a shaped double plinth.
An extremely rare longcase clock of small size and quality.
Height: 6'1" / C.1813 P A Oxley Antique Clocks & Barometers have been established since 1971 and are Members of LAPADA & CINOA. We specialise in sympathetically restored antique longcase clocks, bracket clocks, wall clocks, barometers & vintage watches. All are guaranteed for 12 months.
