Circa 1820, exhibition quality rosewood book trough attributed to Gillows of Lancaster. With beaded, moulded top, turned spindle dividers and small lifting handles to both ends. The richly figured rosewood base with beaded fore-edge, on raised, lobed bun feet it is larger than most book troughs of the period.
