Fine mid 19th.c. rosewood fold over games table c.1840. Stands flat against the wall as an elegant console or side table or twist and open the top to make a square games table for four people with a red baize playing surface plus storage for cards, gaming chips etc below. Beautifully figured rosewood veneers across the piece, laid in a symmetrical pattern on the top. Crossbanded edges and a straight apron with a simple applied moulding to the bottom edge. Raised on a tapering octagonal section column with an ogee moulded collar and four solid rosewood legs with carved detail to the knees and a scrolling leaf foot with brass castors below. Wear to the baize otherwise excellent condition with particularly good even colour. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
