R.Stevens of Leicester 8 day Longcase clock

R.Stevens of Leicester 8 day Longcase antique clock .An 8 day oak longcase clock by Richard Stevens of Leicester. He is listed in Watch and Clock Makers of the World
as working in 1791. Other than this little seems to be known about him
This slim oak cased clock is 87in tall and has a pitched architectural pediment which was popular at this date in Leicestershire. It's a golden honey coloured oak with some mahogany cross banding and fruitwood hood pillars.
The dial is 12 in across and is an early period one painted dial which would have been ordered in from a Birmingham dial maker. It has a well painted woman in the arch.
The restored 8 day running movement would have been made by Richard Stevens and is of good quality and in good condition. I'm sure clock makers of the 18th century would be surprised to know their antique clocks are still in good running order and giving people pleasure today.
