Rudolph Ackermann Mahogany and Brass Artist's Box


A superb box made from Mahogany, the lid trimmed in Ebony stringing and the front drawer inset with a cut brass flush campaign or military style handle. The drawer can only be opened once the box is unlocked and the brass pin is removed.
The box retains it's lovely original label to the interior of the lid with the address of 191 Regent Street, London.
The back section has a removable tray of watercolour paint cakes with storage below for brushes. The middle section has a bone brush rest, a glass water bowl and a couple of porcelain bowls (with some normal usage damage) below this is the original tin case of charcoals. The drawer has four ceramic individual palette dishes.
Dating to the late 19th century it remains in excellent used condition. 9" x 8" x 3".
