Rye Pottery, Canterbury Tales "The Host" Figure

Offered for sale is a "The Host" figure. Part of the collection of Rye Pottery's hand-painted figures based on the pilgrims from Chaucer's renowned Canterbury Tales.
"A very striking man our Host withal,
And fit to be a marshall in a hall.
His eyes were bright, his girth a little wide
There is no finer burgess in Cheapside.
Bold in his speech, yet wise and full of tact,
There was no manly attribute he lacked."
The Host is given a quite different pose by Rye Pottery's specialist ceramicist and modeller Tony Bennett.
Clearly expansively pleased to have so many customers at his Tabard Inn, he is the instigator of the Canterbury Tales stories and this is reflected in his jolly face and outstretched arms. Like "The Knight" figure, he is slightly a larger figure than some.
The driving design influences for this collection are Neville Coghill’s translation of Chaucer's original text and the few illustrations of the Pilgrims shown in the Ellesmere Manuscript.
The perfect gift for Chaucer fans or medieval literature buffs alike. Their timeless quality allows them to fit into any interior style. Delivery Options (under 2kg)
Free delivery included to UK Mainland & NI.
