A beautiful set of postal scales by Sampson Mordan dating to the late 19th - early 20th Century. As can be seen in the photos, the scales are in excellent antique condition. The scales balance perfectly and have been thoroughly cleaned and polished. The stylish slate and malachite base is also in excellent condition except for one small chip to the bottom front left hand corner. This can not be seen when the scales are in their upright position. The base measures 18.2 x 11.0 cm. The total height of the scales including the base is 8.9 cm. The brass weights are stamped 8P, 4P, 2P, 1P, F and finishing with the small F topper weight. A stunning set of scales by a top quality maker and it is very seldom that these are in such wonderful condition.
