Satinwood Polychrome Regency Revival Bergere Armchair


This is a delightful Regency revival satinwood Bergere armchair with very pretty hand painted detail dating from around 1910. The chair is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs and remarkably has all its original canework in complete undamaged condition. This has a truly delightful central cartouche with hand painted cherubs in lovely colours as well as pretty birds to the lower back, with floral borders and classical Regency hand painted motifs throughout the piece. The polychrome paintwork is again complete and in excellent original condition.
The chair has a good wide seat and hand made padded cushion with lattice design fabric. The attractive frame has a elegant turned design with a great colour and patina. The chair is raised on its original brass castors.
A truly excellent example with great charm.
This is a good size and very imposing at 1 metre high by 68 cms wide by 50 cms deep.
The seat height is 40 cms and it is 60 cms wide between the arms and 50 cms deep.
