Saunder of London Regency Period Longcase Clock
A London regulator style Georgian Regency period longcase clock. A slim, well proportioned case of smaller size with choice flame mahogany veneers. An arched hood pediment with circular side glass apertures. Fluted hood sides. A cast brass bezel to the dial surround. A re-entrant moulded base panel and London design double plinth skirting. An engraved circular silvered dial with blued steel hands and seconds dial. Signed to the dial 'Thos Saunders 258 Whitechapel Road London'. A single weight driven timepiece mechanism with regulator type pendulum and brass cased weight. A tapered plated mechanism of 8-day duration, non striking.
Thomas Saunders of London is recorded in Baillies 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World' book as working from 1792-1824.
