Scottish Mahogany Longcase /Grandfather Clock

Fabulous Scottish mahogany longcase clock crafted by George Lumsden of Pittenween in excellent antique condition. The eight-day movement is housed in a stunning hood featuring a swan neck pediment with a central brass finial topped by an eagle. Flanking the arched glass door are elegant barley twist columns, enhancing the clock's timeless charm. The beautifully painted cream-colored 12'' dial features black Roman numerals, accompanied by two subsidiary dials for seconds and the date. A captivating feature is the moving ship in the centre of the arch, complemented by brightly painted spandrels that depict ships and castles. The case boasts a bowfront door framed by half barley twist columns and showcases exceptional flame mahogany veneers. The base is finished with a striking flame mahogany panel and stands proudly on bracket feet. While minor imperfections are to be expected with antiques, the clock’s remarkable presence, warm tones, and rich patina make it a true standout. This is an extraordinary antique clock that embodies both beauty and craftsmanship, making it a perfect statement piece.
George Lumsden Jr of Pittenween is known for crafting longcase clocks during the 19th century.
