Description:
Here is an example of a superb harlequin set of 12 antique French Louis XV style carved oak rush seated ladder back dining chairs of the 3rd Republic period, circa 1920, in excellent condition. The set comprises of 10 side chairs and 2 armchairs. Featuring a shaped top rail with a floral carved motif and two further shaped rails below, in the form of a ladder back design within the shaped upright supports the chairs feature “drop-in” rush seats, all of which are in good condition. The shaped seat frame incorporates a floral carved motif apron. The seats are raised on fine cabriole legs to the front (which terminate on curled toecaps), with straight legs to the rear, all of which are united by elegantly turned stretchers for added strength and stability. The armchairs reflect the design of the side chairs, with the addition of shaped scroll end arms on shaped supports, connecting the back to the seat frame. The armchairs also feature scribe carved aprons, subtly differing from the side chairs, as well as having an extra stretcher to the sides and rear, for additional strength. The chairs are heavy in weight, which is a good sign of fine quality and it means they are sturdy.
The chairs feature a warm, golden brown colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a lovely colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.
These chairs would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the kitchen or dining room. They would certainly grace any home in either a contemporary or traditional setting they are a great investment, as they are an extremely functional item. The chairs are in excellent condition. The set is a harlequin (matched) set of chairs the chairs having been combined from other sets. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chairs feature rush drop-in rush woven seats, which show some signs of age and wear, but are perfectly in-keeping with the age of the chairs, they are solid in joint and are of good quality. The chairs frame have been glued and the wood has been French polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshop. The chairs are heavy, which is a good sign of good quality and ensures they are sturdy. Therefore, they boast a fantastic patination and warm colour, and are solid in joint, they do not wobble and are ready to use.

We offer free delivery to mainland England, Wales, and Southern Scotland (anywhere south of Stirling). We do not offer free delivery to locations north of Stirling in Scotland, Northern Ireland, or any British Islands off the mainland for example, the Isle of Man, Isle of White and Channel Islands. Delivery times are usually 1-4 weeks depending on location we aim to deliver the majority of items within 2 weeks. All items are professionally packaged and fully insured in transit, therefore, we can assure you, your items will be securely protected in transit and arrive safely with you.
Once you have purchased an item, we will contact you be email and/or telephone and provide you with a provisional delivery date, in order for you to confirm if it is suitable for you. Once you have confirmed you can accept delivery on the provisional delivery date, we will book the delivery in with our shippers and it then becomes a confirmed delivery date.

A free 14-day “no quibble” returns policy (from the date you receive the item) is available if you are not happy with this item.
