A rare set of eight wine glass rinsers or coolers, in Bristol Blue glass. The set are of that traditional rich cobalt blue and are of simple slightly tapering bowl form, they do not have the double lip that wine glass rinsers have usually, but are of a shape that means it is unlikely they are finger bowls. Wine glass rinsers or coolers, as they are known by both terms, were made in long sets to go down dining antique tables so diners could rinse or cool there glasses between courses of which there could be many, it is unusual for them to remain in such a long set as they were often broken up when there use waned. The eight are in excellent condition, with slight differences as one would expect of hand blown glass. C.1850
