Set of Four William IV rosewood dining chairs
These are a very good set of four chairs. They are made in rosewood and are classically William IV in design. The quality to these chairs is wonderful. Look at the broad curved back rail, the carved mid rail, the tulip design to the front legs, the swept back legs. You could ask nothing more in a set of chairs.
The chairs have drop in seats. These are upholstered and the condition of the seats are very good but it would be very easy to tack over a material in keeping with your own colour schemes.
The chairs are in wonderful condition. The rosewood is rich and well polished. The joints are solid and there is no sign of damage or worm.
It's hard to date these chairs as the condition is so good. The blocks under the seats are not what you would expect in chairs from 1820. These blocks could date to 1920s and it may be that the chairs are made in the Regency manner in the 1920s rather than the 1820s or these blocks may be later replacements. Either way, these are as good a set of period chairs as you will see. They are very elegant and if you have a period setting or an intimate mahogany dining table, they will look wonderful.
The chairs are each 32.5 inches high to the back and the seat is 18.5 inches high and 20 inches wide.
