Set of Six Antique Dining Chairs, c.1850
This is a set of six antique dining chairs. Continental, painted kitchen chairs upholstered in crewelwork needlepoint tapestry cloth and dating to the mid 19th century, circa 1850.
In the original paint finish exhibiting a fine aged patina
Solid and stable and suitable for daily use
Generous and comfortable seat height at 51cm (20.1 inches)
Pierce carved crest rail over tall padded seatback
Flanked by columns rising from the comfortable 'stuff-over' seat pads
Upholstered in a quality crewelwork cloth with very light signs of use
Shaped seat rail over slender cabriole legs to the front
Swept rear legs with high-level stretcher and robust 'H' stretcher below
Standing upon stylised square feet
