Set of Two Ebony Dressing Table Pots, c.1900-20
This is a handsome Set of Two Early 20th Century Ebony Dressing Table Pots. There is one cylindrical pot with a domed screwtop lid and another with a cylindrical base and a chimney style screwtop lid, which would have been used to enclose a perfume bottle. Alternatively you could put a shaving brush in this one and use the cylindrical one for lathering up.
Both pieces are stamped EBONY on the undersides of the bases and date to around 1900 to 1920. There is no indication of a maker.
Ebony items were very popular in the late 19th and early 20th century but since the fifties Ebony has become much scarcer and other materials have taken over.
Condition is very good with just the superficial wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The cylindrical pot is 9cm / 3.5ins high and 7cm / 2.75ins in diameter. The shaped pot is 10cm / 3.9ins high and 5cm / 1.97ins in diameter. The pair together weigh 276.5g / 9.75oz of solid Ebony.
